Takitimu: 140 years of achievement

Te Puni Kōkiri supported St Joseph’s Māori Girls’ College 140th anniversary. This event was held to recognise the founders of the college in 1867, and the significant contribution the college has made to Māori and New Zealand.

Past pupils, ex-teachers and whānau attended the celebrations including activities, a pōwhiri, hākari, karakia and more.

Over the years St Joseph’s Māori Girls’ College has achieved excellent academic results. Earlier this year, this success was acknowledged when Principal Georgina Kingi was awarded a Papal Medal for her contribution to Catholic education.
