To support Te Rūnanga o Ngaati Naho to develop, implement and deliver their Kua ara ake ahau event. The proposal name originates from the tongikura of King Tawhaio which encourages Waikato to be vigilant, committed, and steadfast in times of turmoil. Kua ara ake ahau gives life to the tuupuna voice of those who sacrificed their lives at the Battle of Rangiriri. The project recognises their extraordinary military intelligence and resilience and supports the official opening of one of the most culturally significant sites of the 1860s New Zealand Wars. |
