Masterate Scholarships and Doctoral Scholarships for Maori Students are offered for the purpose of encouraging postgraduate research at an approved New Zealand University, Wananga or Tertiary Institution.
A total of four Masterate Scholarships and two Doctoral Scholarships may be awarded in 2010 for the 2011 academic year. The value of the scholarships are: Masterate Scholarship $2,500 Doctoral Scholarship $5,000
Scholarship recipients will be notified before the Conference and must attend the Conference in order to receive their award.
The scholarships are open to Maori postgraduate students in agriculture, natural resource management, environment, ecology or any discipline related to Maori land development with an emphasis on sustainability and use of natural resources.
Students must be enrolled or eligible to enrol full-time for the thesis research component of their Masterate or Doctoral degree.
The Whenua Conference Scholarship Committee reserves the right to refrain from making an award if applicants are not of sufficient merit.
Applications must be received by Monday 12 July 2010.
The first fifteen (15) students to apply for the Student Poster Exhibit Competition and/or Application for Masterate or Doctoral Scholarship for Maori Students will receive a complimentary registration to attend the full Conference, 21 to 23 July 2010 including the Conference Dinner on Thursday 22 July 2010.
