Video - Waka Whenua

Waka Whenua is an initiative based in Motueka that focuses on creating tangible expressions of aroha for every whānau. Sisters Julie and Tracey wanted to see their sacred connection to the whakapapa that gave them life, honoured through the creation of the ipu whenua - a container from which to place the placenta until it could be returned to Papatūānuku; whenua to whenua. They're product exists to celebrate life, anchor life and commemorate the things that families value most.
