This initiative aims to increase support for whānau to achieve their aspirations and lift overall wellbeing. This will be done through funding the expansion of the Whānau Ora commissioning for outcomes approach to reach more whānau. It will include an increase in the navigator workforce, targeted tamariki support, and support to build financial capability.

Whānau Ora will receive $80 million over the next four years to include localised commissioning while also bolstering commissioning with the Whānau Ora Commissioning Agencies
The funding will also contribute to building the capabilities of Navigators to provide targeted support to tamariki within the context of their whānau in partnership with Oranga Tamariki and building the skills of Navigators to support whānau to improve their financial capability in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development.
Expanding the funding available to support the Whānau Ora commissioning model fulfils the Government’s commitment to increase funding for Whānau Ora and to improve outcomes for whānau.
Whānau Ora supports whānau to achieve a broad range of outcome areas, including employment, income and debt management, health, education and cultural connectedness
Commissioning Agencies have consistently and successfully delivered Whānau Ora services and support across New Zealand, improving outcomes for whānau.
Whānau Ora Navigators are an integral part of the success of Whānau Ora as they build trusting relationships and encourage whānau to access support from a range of providers, increasing efficacy for initiatives across sectors.
