The 2024/25 Section 8I Report provides an update on the Crown’s progress in responding to and implementing Waitangi Tribunal recommendations between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025.
Drawing on information provided by government agencies, it outlines progress across urgent, priority, remedies, kaupapa, and district inquiries, and provides a status update on all current Waitangi Tribunal claims.
Presented to the House of Representatives under section 8I of the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975, the report serves as an important accountability mechanism for whānau, hapū, Iwi, Māori and the wider public. By supporting transparency and enabling progress to be tracked over time, it helps ensure oversight of the Crown’s response to Waitangi Tribunal recommendations.
