9am - 5pm. $4 General Admission. The ASB Polyfest is the largest Māori & Pacific Island’s cultural festival in the world. In 2009 it attracted record spectator numbers of over 90,000, with 9000 students competing from 59 schools. It features traditional music, dance, costume and speech and is now recognised as an important showcase of New Zealand's diverse cultures and a celebration of youth performance. Tāmaki Makaurau Tāmaki Herenga Waka Tāmaki Herenga Tangata
The Tāmaki Makaurau region stretches from the South Kaipara in the north to the southern reaches of the Manukau Harbour and covers more than 5,600 square kilometres. It is the smallest of the Te Puni Kōkiri regions but contains the largest population of Māori.
According to the 2006 Census, the Māori population in the region was 139,980 representing 24.8 percent of the total New Zealand Māori population. Half of the Māori population in Tāmaki Makaurau is under the age of 22.6 years.
