Use of exemptions provisions

In May 2020, the Government passed the COVID-19 Response (Requirements for Entities – Modifications and Exemptions) Act 2020 to support entities to operate effectively through COVID-19.

Sections 24-40 of the Act enable the Minister for Māori Development to grant exemptions to some Māori entities from certain statutory obligations. In accordance with our responsibilities under section 38 of the Act, and for transparency to entities’ members and beneficiaries, any documents or notices regarding exemptions that the Minister is considering or has approved will be published on this page.

  • No requests for exemptions or consultation underway at this time.
