Te Tai Hauāuru

The Te Tai Hauāuru region essentially covers the western side of the lower North Island, extending from the Mohakatino River in the north through to the Manawatū River in the south.

According to the 2006 Census, the Māori population in the region was 48,483 representing 8.6 percent of the total New Zealand Māori population.

There are 14 iwi within this region:
