On 22 October 2009, Ngāti Manawa and the Crown initialled a Deed of Settlement that will settle all of Ngāti Manawa’s historical Treaty claims. This document can be found on the Office of Treaty Settlements website under Documents > Deeds of Settlement > Ngati Manawa Deed of Settlement.

The Deed of Settlement is subject to ratification by Ngāti Manawa iwi members through a postal ballot closing at 12:00pm on 4th December 2009. Ngāti Manawa will also have an opportunity to ratify Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Manawa as the entity to receive and manage the redress.
