Winning the awards this year was both humbling and exhilarating says Paul Stanley, Ngaiterangi Iwi Runanga Operations Manager.
"The recognition we've received for our iwi's innovation and outstanding work is welcomed. We simply used the same creative eyes we have used in designing health promotion programmes and cutting edge social service delivery," he says.
Ngāiterangi Iwi Rūnanga also took out the community award with TV3 taking out once again the television award.
In one of the most celebrated Māori Language Weeks yet, 36 finalists in nine categories contended for top honours.
“Congratulations to all the winners, particularly for their efforts and commitment to te reo Māori,” says Chief Executive of Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori Huhana Rokx.
“Māori Language Week 2008 had an unprecedented coverage in the media and with the many thousands of celebrations throughout the nation,” she says.
Next year New Zealand will celebrate Māori Language Week from 27 July – 2 August with a theme of “Māori language in the community”
