In December 2009, BERL was engaged to research how innovation investment will impact Māori in the first instance, and New Zealand in the second instance, if Māori do not get an appropriate level of innovation investment.

A workshop was held with public sector agencies as a first step in the process to ensure that they are well briefed and have input into this Māori innovation project.

Liaison with commercial Māori organisations and iwi leaders will follow mid to late February.
