The Business Facilitation Service of Te Puni Kōkiri helps new and existing businesses with advice and guidance. It is a free service available to any Māori.

The Business Facilitation Service does not provide funding but can help with:

• Mentoring
• Coaching
• Problem-solving
• Networking
• Identifying funding sources
• Accessing resources and referrals to other business services.

Identifying your needs

If you are interested in our service we will allocate an Account Manager to assess your needs. The Account Manager will:

• Discuss the nature and viability of your business or business proposition
• Identify if and how we can help you
• Identify your capabilities as a business operator
• Identify any other critical issues and business needs.

The Accredited Business Mentor

Once the initial assessment is completed you may be referred to a Te Puni Kōkiri Accredited Business Mentor.

The Accredited Business Mentors are contracted from the private sector and are experts in business development. They have proven business experience and have entered into this mentoring relationship to help people like succeed in business. They can help you:

• Develop a business plan
• Provide advice about the commitments you face as the owner of a business
• Support the start-up, growth or recovery of your business
• Mentor you for up to a year once you have begun trading or begun your growth or recovery plan.

The Accredited Business Mentors will also work with your Account Manager to identify other specialists that may add value to your business.
