The Ministry of Justice was directed in April by the Government to undertake a fundamental review of the Family Court. The purpose of the Review is to go back to first principles and to look across the family law system to determine the best configuration of services that is required to ensure the Court is both more effective and efficient.
The Ministry is seeking submissions on the Review, and would very much appreciate receiving views from Māori to ensure that the services put in place deliver services that are more responsive to Māori needs.
Submissions are due by 29 February 2012 and should be sent to:
Review of the Family Court Ministry of Justice DX SX10088 WELLINGTON
Or by email to familycourtreview@justice.govt.nz
The Ministry's website also includes a questionnaire asking court users about their experiences with the Family Court or with their family lawyer.
