Moriori Mandate Reconfirmation

The Hokotehi Moriori Trust (HMT) is seeking to reconfirm its mandate to represent Moriori in Treaty settlement negotiations with the Crown.

The mandate reconfirmation process includes:

  • a Hui-ā-Moriori on Saturday 30 January 2016; and
  • a Crown submissions process.

Te Puni Kōkiri invites submissions, views or inquiries concerning the reconfirmation of the mandate of HMT to enter negotiations with the Crown for the settlement of the historical Treaty claims of Moriori. Submissions must reach Te Puni Kōkiri no later than Saturday 13 February 2016 and can be mailed to the Manager, Crown-Iwi, Hapū, Whānau Māori Relations – Karauna-Iwi, Hapū, Whānau Māori, Te Puni Kōkiri, PO Box 3943, Wellington, or emailed to mandatesubs@tpk.govt.nz. All submissions will be provided to HMT and will be subject to the Official Information Act 1982.
