Are you a self-starter, familiar with the machinery of Government, with strong political nous and cultural awareness?

Te Puni Kōkiri has several exciting leadership opportunities available within the Policy Partnership Te Puni for those who want to work at the cutting edge of public policy and contribute to enabling iwi, hapū and whānau Māori to succeed as Māori.

  • Our Cultural Wealth team works for Māori to be secure, confident and expert in their own language and culture, and includes policy around broadcasting and telecommunications (one position available);
  • Our Whanau Wellbeing team focuses on core social policy including whanau ora, vulnerable children (two positions available).
  • Our Crown, Iwi, Hapū, Whanau Māori Relations team focuses on treaty settlements, treaty rights and international portfolio – including on the rights of indigenous people (one position available).
  • The Office of the Deputy Chief Executive.  The successful applicant will work across prioritised Policy mahi, so will have policy depth and breadth and be able to work at a senior level on a range of issues.  A generalist extraordinaire! (one position available)

Our ideal candidates for these positions will demonstrate specialist expertise in one or more of the above areas as well as generalist skills to enable them to undertake wider Principal Policy Analyst responsibilities.

Te Puni Kōkiri staff work with colleagues across a range of other Crown entities and require strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. As well, all candidates are expected to have an appreciation of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori.  Having worked successfully with, or for, Māori is seen as an advantage.
