The core purpose of Te Puni Kōkiri, the Ministry of Māori Development, is to support Government to strengthen Treaty of Waitangi partnerships that enable iwi, hapū and whānau Māori to succeed as Māori.

Te Puni Kōkiri is looking at ways to strengthen its focus on whānau-centred approaches, and these roles will assist us as we continue to strengthen and grow. Whānau Ora is an innovative whanau-centred approach to empowering whānau to achieve better health, education, housing, skills development and economic outcomes.

As the Lead you will be responsible for supporting Te Puni Kōkiri by providing best practice contract management for Whānau Ora Commissioning Agencies. You will also represent Te Puni Kōkiri in broader cross-agency work on approaches to commissioning and social investment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or significant experience in a contract management role;
  • High level experience and understanding of the state sector;
  • Experience in delivering a successful work programme;
  • Proven people management; and
  • Strong relationship management skills

We anticipate candidates applying from a wide variety of backgrounds including finance, contract management and areas with a strong focus on measurement and reporting. You’ll be known to have an eye for detail and a methodical approach to your work, as well as well-honed communication skills and proven stakeholder management experience. You’d be the type of person who is innovative in their thinking and likes to work in a high-performing team to achieve results.

The successful candidates could bring either public or private sector experience
