Making Ngā Kaihanga Hou a reality in Auckland

There is no doubt of Auckland’s importance to New Zealand overall as well as to Māori. Nearly one quarter of New Zealand’s total Māori population live there and just over 11 percent of people in the Auckland region identify with the Māori ethnic group.

Māori participation in New Zealand’s GDP lifted significantly from $2.6 billion or 1.96 percent in 2003 to $8.3 billion or 5.35 percent in 2006. Te Puni Kōkiri has produced a handout that summarises key information to inform understanding of Māori participation in the Auckland economy, and identifies drivers that influence their participation
