Te Puni Kōkiri was created by the Ministry of Māori Development Act 1991, with a focus on education, training and employment, health and economic resource development. Our principle duties under the Act are to promote increases in Māori achievement across these key social and economic areas.
The Chief Executive is seeking to appoint a Deputy Secretary to report to him and work as part of his executive leadership team in taking overall responsibility for the success of the Ministry and specifically to lead the Relationship and Information Wāhanga.
The key role of the Relationships and Information Wāhanga is the development and maintenance of relationships with Māori and a broad range of stakeholders such as local and central government, business, and wider communities of interest for the advancement of Māori.
These are strategic and purposeful relationships - partnering to achieve mutual goals that align with the government’s priorities. We place a strong emphasis on evaluating our interventions to build understanding of intervention outcomes and to guide our future investments.
For this senior role, breadth and depth of experience is required as well as a demonstrable commitment to our values and our kaupapa.
